Day 5: Lake Eyasi – Ngorongoro Crater
The day starts with a drive to Ngorongoro Crater. After lunch clients will get to see a great variety and density of animals in the second largest caldera on earth. Tourists will experience one of the most beautiful game drives in the late afternoon. Most of the people leave the crater-floor by that time. The light also gets soft and the activity of the wild animals increases. Please have a sufficient quantity of film-rolls with you; you will want to take a lot of pictures of this fascinating African landscape, with amazing flora and fauna. Dinner and overnight stay will be prearranged at Ngorongoro Rhino Safari Lodge.
Day 6: Empakai Crater
Few people have experienced this extraordinary excursion. Passing the slopes of the Olmoti Crater you will be fascinated by the scenery of Embulbul Depression, Mount Loolmalassin and Empakai Crater. On a really difficult track we will ride you to the rim of Empakai Crater (2700m). This caldera is bordered by 600m high, steep jungle walls while its floor is covered with a green glimmering lake – the seasonal home of millions of flamingos. An armed ranger will accompany you which open the chance to descend to the crater floor (tough path!). 17 day Tanzania wildebeest migration safari Dinner and overnight stay arranged at Ngorongoro Rhino Safari Lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park
Passing Ngorongoro crater rim, tourists descend through an impressive landscape down to Olduvai Gorge. There, they will find the most complete and oldest proofs of human development. Stop a while to gather more information about the cradle of mankind, before continuing to the heart of Serengeti. Dinner and overnight will be at the special campsite, Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp.
Days 8 – 11: Serengeti National Park
Tourists will have plenty of time to explore the Serengeti, one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world with an incredible wildlife. The journey is adapted to tourists’ travel period. In this season approximately 2.5 million animals are on their “great migration” to southern Serengeti. Because of the rainfalls in these months, the herds move southwards. You will get the chance to observe this unique natural spectacle! As our safaris have no limit of mileage and time, you will get to know whole of the Serengeti region. You also get to visit Ngong Hill and Moru Kopjes – also known as “Islands in the Sea of Grass land”. Tourists take their time to have a look around, rest for a bit and enjoy the nature! Dinner and overnight stay will again be at the special camp site, Serengeti Kati Kati camp.
Days 12: Serengeti National Park – Ndutu Woodlands
On this day, tourists will move to a lodge in Ndutu Woodlands. This will give the crew enough time to move the camp from Serengeti to Nasera Rock. Dinner and overnight stay will be arranged at Special Ndutu Heritage Tented Camp.
Days 13 & 14: Ndutu Woodlands – Nasera Rock
After breakfast, tourists will experience a walking safari in Ndutu woodlands with an armed ranger. They will then return to the camp for hot lunch and then depart to Nasera Rock via game drive. There is an option of visiting Fig Tree if tourists are interested. For this, they drive on dusty, nearly never used trails to the north – for an excursion into the lost wilderness! Tourists will find a fig tree in untouched Maasai land, north of Oldupai and close to the Gol Mountains. Even if the group is not interested in trees in general, this tree will tell you about the last 1000 years. We found this tree about 14 years ago and used to talk for hours with it. We are proud to show our lonely friend and you will not forget this “cathedral of a tree”! Dinner and overnight stay will be at Ndutu Heritage special campsite.
Day 15: Ndutu Heritage special Camp -Malambo – Lake Natron
Passing by Malambo, you will reach Lake Natron which is surrounded by Shompole (Kenya) in the North, is opposite to Gelai and is next to Oldonyo Lengai – the Maasai holy mountain. A tough track leads to our tented lodge at River Ngarasero. Dinner and overnight will be at Sengo Tented Camp.
Day 16: Lake Natron – Arusha
The day’s drive is long and exhausting. Along the nearly vertical walls of the Rift, the track takes us back to civilization. We return to Arusha, and have dinner and overnight stay at The African Tulip hotel.
